Inspired by their recent FDReview, the team behind Amanda 555 Cod Roe have re-defined their product for a new market!
Cod Roe is a Fish & Chip shop staple in many parts of the UK. Traditionally fried in batter, it is a nutritious and tasty alternative to a piece of battered fish.
Having extensively sold their Amanda 555 brand of roe for many years, the team at Insula Seafood in Denmark booked an FDReview to get inspired on how to expand their product appeal and sales for the next generation.
The team unanimously enjoyed the product - but repeatedly identified the opportunity for cod roe in foodservice as a cost-effective and versatile ingredient.
The team not only tasted and reviewed the product - but they also 'played' with it. As industry experts and renowned foodies, they got to work in their kitchens, frying, cubing, shaving and mashing - identifying great product ideas and potential.
Insula took the advice on board and brought in the expertise of renowned chef, Steve Walpole (also an FDReviewer), to work with them and create some recipes for the foodservice market. From fritters, to bao buns and ravioli - Steve said the product was easy to work with and delivered great results.
